Terms & conditions
The basis on which SFB Heating and Cooling quotes for and carries out work — quotations, prices, payment, guarantees, certification and cancellation.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms apply to work carried out by SFB Heating and Cooling, owned by Sam Ibbs, of 3 Mansfield Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire RG22 6DU. Contact: 07825 758511 or sfbheating@gmail.com.
They apply to domestic customers and to landlords instructing work at a residential property.
2. Quotations
Quotations are free. Once a written quotation has been issued and accepted, the price is fixed for the work described in it.
A quotation covers the work set out in it and nothing else. Where something is found that could not reasonably have been seen at survey — for example concealed pipework, an unsafe existing installation, or asbestos — we will stop, explain the position and give you a price for the additional work before continuing. You are free to decline it.
Where a job does not warrant a quotation, work is charged at £90 + VAT per hour, plus materials. This is stated before work begins.
3. Prices
Published starting prices are: new boiler installations from £1,900 + VAT; domestic air conditioning installations from £1,600 + VAT; landlord gas safety certificates (CP12) £90 + VAT.
Starting prices are the lowest price at which that type of work is undertaken. Your price depends on the property, the appliance chosen and the work involved, and is confirmed in your quotation.
All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.
4. Booking and access
Work is booked by agreement, normally within our working hours of 8am–5pm, monday to friday. Out-of-hours emergency call-outs available for loss of heating, loss of hot water and leaks.
You are responsible for providing safe access to the property and to the areas where work is required, including clearing space around appliances, loft hatches and cylinders.
5. Payment
Payment is due on completion unless otherwise agreed in writing. Bank transfer is preferred; cash is accepted.
Title to any materials supplied remains with us until payment has been received in full.
6. Guarantees and warranties
All work carries a one-year workmanship guarantee from the date of completion.
Appliances and parts carry the manufacturer's own warranty, which may be longer — up to 10 years on a new boiler installation depending on the unit fitted and on the boiler being serviced annually as the manufacturer requires.
Guarantees do not cover damage caused by third-party interference, misuse, lack of servicing, frost damage, system contamination introduced after completion, or pre-existing faults in parts of the system that were not part of the work.
7. Certification and compliance
Gas work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer (registration 593588) and is notified and certified as required.
Refrigerant work on air conditioning is carried out under F-Gas certification (Refcom REF1025590).
Certificates and warranty registration documents are issued to you on completion. Please keep them — they are needed for warranty claims and, for landlords, for compliance.
8. Cancellation
Where a contract is agreed away from our business premises, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
If you ask us in writing to begin work within that 14-day period and then cancel, you remain liable for the work already carried out and for any non-returnable materials ordered for your job.
Please give as much notice as possible if an appointment needs to be moved so the slot can be offered to someone else.
9. Liability
£2 million public liability insurance is held and in force.
We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for pre-existing faults, for the failure of parts of a system we did not install or work on, or for losses that were not foreseeable at the time the work was agreed.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
10. Complaints
If something is not right, call 07825 758511 or email sfbheating@gmail.com and give us the chance to put it right. Complaints are acknowledged and dealt with directly by Sam Ibbs.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute falls to the courts of England and Wales.
